Ms. Sandii Lwin, Managing Director

Ms. Sandii Lwin is an international development expert with over 20 years experience in global and regional strategic planning, global health advocacy and partnerships, technical assistance coordination, private sector development and in managing large multilateral programs. She previously worked for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, National Network for Asia and Pacific Women, the World Bank, IMF, URC, UNDP. She served on the RBM Partnership Board from 2005-2008. She is the founder and Managing Director of Myanmar Health and Development Consortium.

 

Dr Kyi Minn, Senior Health Specialist

A physician and public health specialist with more than twenty years of experience working in global health and primary health care. Formerly worked at World Vision International and the Nossal Institute for Global Health, the University of Melbourne. Is now a resident in Yangon, Myanmar. Served as a member of the Civil Society Consultative Group for Health Nutrition and Population at the World Bank Group in Washington DC. Currently working as Health Adviser and Global Health Consultant for MHDC and also serving as an advisory board member for local NGOs in Myanmar. Interested to support and contribute towards universal health coverage, public private partnership in healthcare and health security issues across the borders with global health diplomacy approach.

 

Mr Kyaw San Wai, Research Officer

Mr Kyaw San Wai is research officer at MHDC. His reseach focuses on health security, private sector engagement and public-private partnerships. Prior to joining MHDC, Mr Kyaw worked as a senior analyst for an international affairs and policy research think tank in Singapore. (He is currently involved in the implementation of a public-private partnership pilot project on engaging the non-health corporate sector for malaria elimination, as through MHDC’s partnership with the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI)’s Corporate Social Responsibility Department.)

 

Dr Si Thu Aung, Project Manager

Dr Si Thu Aung is project manager for an education/childhood development project in children’s hospitals in Myanmar, funded by the Magic Libraries Foundation. As a project manager, he is responsible for project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of educational development project to promote innovative response in the healing of the hospitalized children through practice of learning and reading books. Before joining with MHDC, he worked as a team leader in malaria control program in remote locations for the capacity building, prevention and treatment of malaria and care and support to the most vulnerable populations.

Advisory Panel Members

Mr Frank Black:

A development specialist with over twenty-five years experience working with multilateral development banks, in the UN system, and in governmental and not-for-profit agencies in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Europe with a focus on institutional change management, program management and policy development. He previously worked for UK Department for International Development (DFID), served as Executive Director on the Board of Asian Development Bank (ADB), the first Deputy Executive Director of the newly established Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

 

Dr Arletty Pinel:

Founder and CEO of Genos Global, an international consultancy firm that focuses in global health and social development. Dr Pinel is a physician and public health specialist with internationally recognized experience in designing, implementing, managing and evaluating public health and social development programs in most regions of the world. She previously worked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Geneva); Family Health International (FHI), the International HIV/AIDS Alliance and the National AIDS Program, and Ministry of Health in Brazil. During recent years, she has focused on telemedicine and the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for health and development.

 

Dr Sally Stansfield:

She is a physician epidemiologist who is a specialist in policy, information systems and metrics for evaluation of health systems, programs and institutions. Dr Stansfield has worked extensively in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and the Middle East. She was the founding director of the Health Metrics Network (HMN) initiative, and previously worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Management Sciences for Health (MSH) in Cambodia, the International Development Research Centre in Ottawa, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She is currently working as Director at Delliot Consulting LLC based in Arlington, VA.

 

Mr Torsten Thiele:

Mr. Thiele is a project and infrastructure finance specialist with over 20 years experience in advising, structuring and funding transactions in a wide range of countries, in particular for the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector. Mr. Thiele was a 2014 Harvard Advanced Leadership Fellow and recently founded the Global Ocean Trust, focussing on marine and coastal governance and development finance issues, He previously worked with UNDP, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), JP Morgan, CIT, Bank Berlin, CEA, Wasserstein and Investec Bank and holds graduate degrees from the universities of Bonn, Cambridge and Harvard.
